Garlic Away Those Warts

Recent studies have found that garlic extract can remove all traces of the wart in as little as two weeks.

Cancer causing oxidants, bacterium, viruses, plus many other pathogens have failed to stand up to the mighty effects of garlic. Now, you can add warts to the list as yet another affliction that the stinking rose can help you heal from.

Warts are tumor like skin growths that are caused by viral infections and anyone who has ever had one can tell you how irritating they can be. Warts spread easily and are notoriously hard to get rid of. The standard salicylic acid cure can take months to get rid of the wart and freezing it away can be painful and ineffective. One these small rough tumors on the bottom of your foot, something that is called a planters wart can make walking or standing extremely painful, and can be even harder to get rid of because of the thick skin of the underfoot.

Now, according to a new study done here in the United States, a rub on extract of garlic is more effective at getting rid of the warts than the standard salicylic acid treatment. This study involved 23 wart people applying the garlic oil extract to their ugly skin tumors twice a day. After about two weeks all of these wart sufferers were deemed wart free and once again allowed to mingle with the rest of normal society.

The side effects

Using this garlic extract to help burn away your toad like features does come with a few hazards. Most of the former wart people reported redness in burning in areas where they applied the garlic. These side effects however, were not as severe as those of other treatments and most of the study participants were willing to put up with it in order to get rid of their warts.

It is believed that the sulfur compounds that are contained in garlic are responsible for the herbs ability to do away with warts. These same sulfur compound are thought to be responsible for many of garlic's other beneficial properties including cancer prevention, heart health and vampire repellent. Sulfur is also responsible for the lovely pungent aroma that garlic gives off when it is crushed or chopped.

Another way to effectively use garlic to get rid of warts involves applying raw garlic directly onto the skin. This has proven to be just effective wart remedy but comes with the same side effects of itching and burning. It might also stink you up a little bit more.
